Many of you have been contacting me regarding new vises in recent weeks, especially as Christmas is approaching and you are looking for a new vise for your loved one, or as is more often the case, looking for a new vise for yourselves. And why not, I say. Treat yourself to the gift that keeps on giving, and my Regal vise has certainly proven to do that this year.

I upgraded from another vise earlier this year to a Regal Revolution vise and have not looked back. A couple of long time fly tiers asked me why I made the change, and I have to admit that at first, it was a bit of a case of “Gear Acquisition Syndrome” taking over, but when I did get to try out the Regal vises that we stock here in Australia in the Troutlore store, I couldn’t help but make the jump.

Firstly, the simplicity of these vises is just outstanding. There is something so perfect about the design of each of the models in the Regal vise range, with so few moving parts, making it very easy to set up, insert hooks and make adjustments to the hook’s position in the jaws. And that is what the Regal vise is all about – the jaws. It is the sheer holding power of these jaws that makes the Regal second to no others. I was able to bend and even break hooks with some 200 denier GSP thread whilst really cranking down on them, while the hook didn’t move one bit within the jaws. This goes for not only the Revolution, but also the Travel Vise and the Medallion Vise series. And with a range of base options now available, and good stock of all Regal vises here in Australia, there is sure to be a vise to suit your tying needs.
