As many of you will know, we have recently added Chuck’N’Duck Flytying to our list of dubbing suppliers, further increasing the number of dubbing options we have available to Australian fly tyers. Why? Because we love dubbing!

As it turns out, Andy McClelland, the man behind the helm at Chuck’N’Duck just out of Belfast in the UK, is also mad keen on dubbing and he spends far too much time building new blends to further add to his range. The man spends most of his week breathing in hair and synthetic particles as he whips up new concoctions, all for us to enjoy at the vise.

This latest shipment has seen the addition of a third Squirrel Dubbing option, since the first two have proven so popular. Plus, we have added his Shabby dubbing to the range in both the standard Shabby and the Shabby Mosaic which has fine, multi-coloured holographic fibres through it for a little extra flash. This makes a finely dubbed body sparkle just a little, it makes a brushed out collar pop and it makes a dubbing brush sing!

But, the one I am really excited about is a special blend I had him mix up just for us down here in Australia. Andy’s called it “Ozzy Damsel” and has whipped up a  limited run for us. Of this, I have already snaffled a few packs for myself, but the rest is up for grabs. It’s a UV hot Olive Shabby Dubbing, with a Blue Damsel Flash running through it. Perfect for damsel bodies and thoraxes on both wets and dries, but I think it will be equally at home on any general searching wet fly. And I have an idea or two in my head for uses on dry flies that might get some attention.
