Description

This is a complete tying kit with all the materials required to tie 24 flies in this Olive Flashback Hares Ear Nymph pattern. Plus, there will be lots left over, so additional hooks can be added at a later date to get even more flies from these materials.

The Olive Flashback Hares Ear nymph is one of those so many variations that has become popular throughout the years because it works. Like the Tasmanian counterpart in the Claret Nymph, and the classic the Hares Ear nymph, this gets it done when mayflies are about. Of course, it still works as a general searching pattern too. The lighter, tones of the olive dubbing blend, combined with Elk Mane and gold give this a very realistic look in the water. The added flashback in the wing case makes it stand out even more in the sun. This is a favourite pattern of mine for fishing brightly lit weed beds in the sunshine on larger rivers

This pattern is brilliant for lake fishing when there are mayflies about, or on the rivers as a single nymph or part of a tandem rig. The added mass of a tungsten bead gets this fly down in front of the fish fast without requiring it to be too bulky, keeping a more natural profile and not making too great of a splash as it hits the water’s surface.
