Description

The Foam Film Nymph is a darker toned, more slender, slimmer version of my Brown Winged Oliver Emerger. It is designed to sit further down in the film, or just below it. So much of that pre-hatch activity happens just below the water’s surface. As such, rising trout who appear to be taking from the top are actually taking from just below. What we see as a “rise form” is actually there forehead breaking the surface, and not their lips. The ring comes as water is pulled down when they take an insect from in the film or just below it. So, this little nymph is ideal for the early part of a hatch. Plus, it is handy for those fussy sippers that just aren’t committing to taking off the very top.

The thin foam wing case helps suspend the fly just in the film. This reduces the sink rate brought on by the fine wire ribbing. More foam can be added and less wire to adjust the sink rate. Generally the tension of the tippet in the surface film should be enough to enable these to suspend just where you want them.

Supplied in lots of six (6) flies per hook size.
