Description

When starting out tying dry flies it is often hard to find the right hackle feathers for the task. It easy to waste a lot of money buying feathers that seem right, but only turn out to be far from ideal for dry flies. There are various different capes and saddle feathers available for tying flies and most of them aren’t suited to dry fly applications. So, to clear up the confusion, The Lost Fly prepares these mixed saddle hackle packs, which are available individually from the Troutlore site. And, because we know so many of you want to tie a wide range of patterns that require various colours, we have put together this starter combo of five Mixed Saddle Hackle Packs. You get one pack of each of the following colours :

Natural Grizzly
Chocolate Brown
Black
White
Claret

These five colours will certainly take care of more dry flies than your imagination will come up with right away. You’ll have plenty of quality dry fly saddle feathers in each colour to tie loads of flies. And of course, you can always match these up with a Lost Fly Tailing Pack for all your dry fly tails too.

The Lost Fly supplies select fly tying materials, lovingly prepared in Tasmania, for the Australian fly tying market. This includes the Lost Fly Mixed Saddle Hackle Pack which features a selection of long hackle feathers perfect for a range of dry fly tying applications. Each pack contains approximately 16 feathers, depending on their length. There are a range of colours available within the packs. These imclude black, brown, grizzly, barred ginger and the mixed selection for a range of colours in one, mostly in the #12 – #16 size range. The Lost Fly Mixed Saddle Hackle Pack varieties include feathers from both Whiting and Metz saddles, but are all high quality dry fly tying feathers.

At Troutlore, we want you to have the best choice of the best feathers possible to create perfectly floating dry flies. We stock packs from The Lost Fly as well as Whiting. We also stock capes and saddles from both Whiting and Metz. Whilst it can be a struggle to get popular colours at times, we do our best to source a continual range of feathers. If you can’t see the colour of cape you are after, please feel free to get in touch and we will do what we can to get you the feathers you need.

Of course, if you want to create all sorts of natural looking fly patterns, then our ever growing range of natural feathers is the ideal place to start. Aside from all the hackles, marbou, Coq De Leon and Cul De Canard that we have on offer, you can find some real gems the Other Feathers Category of the Troutlore Flytying Store.
