Description

This is a complete tying kit with all the materials required to tie 25 flies in this Pearl Frenchie pattern. Plus, there will be lots left over, so additional hooks and beads can be added at a later date to get even more flies from these materials. You’ll have leftover hooks to start with as Firehole hooks are supplied in quantities of 36 per pack, so some unweighted nymphs can also be tied with this pack.

The Frenchie is a simplified pheasant tail nymph pattern popularized by the French in competition fly fishing and one of the most popular flies used in European style nymphing techniques. Unlike some Euro Nymph patterns that involve UV Resins, colour additives and very specific materials and techniques, this nymph, however, is relatively simple and a great pattern for novice-intermediate tyers.

The Frenchie is a great nymph for Euro or Tight Line nymphing and also can be fished under an indicator. It’s one of those patterns that should be in every fly box, in good quantities, if you want to pick up fish when everything else isn’t working. I find it works especially well as a small point fly on a tandem nymph setup, freely trailing behind a larger, leggy nymph.

Included in this pack are the following :

Firehole Sticks Barbless Hooks #14

FTD Starburst Dubbing – Pearl

UTC 70 Denier Thread – Red

UTC Brassi Wire – Copper

Pheasant Tails – Natural

Tungsten Beads 7/64 – Black
