Hareline STS Trilobal dubbing is an absolutely fantastic and essential dubbing material that every fly tyer really should have at hand at his or her fly bench. STS stands for Salmon Trout Steelhead, so you get an idea of what it’s used for. But, it is just as useful in saltwater and native patterns too.

The good folk at Hareline Dubbin in Monroe Oregon have come up with so many excellent dubbing products that it is a conundrum to choose a few favorites from the pack, but STS Trilobl Dubbing is surely going to be up there. Here’s some of the reasons that it might work for you.

STS Trilobal dubbing is easy to dub. You can spin this in a dubbing loop or just dub it between thumb and forefinger with or without a hint of dubbing wax on your thread.

STS Trilobal dubbing makes spiky fuzzy bodies that remind us of seal fur. This buggy appearance reflects and refracts light and we think it makes a fly that is very attractive to fish of all sorts, even though we tie more steelhead, trout, and salmon flies than we do bonefish and redfish and tarpon flies, STS Trilobal dubbing ties nicely on flies that target all of these species.

STS Trilobal Dubbing is offered in so many colors that we have a tough time keeping up with our count. So who cares? We invite you to browse the color selection that ranges from eye-popping bright to most subtle cream.

STS Trilobal dubbing is the perfect length and texture to blend with other STS colors or with other dubbing materials. We especially like to add a pinch of various Ice Dub materials in contrasting colors to our STS and create signature color combinations for our salmon, steelhead and trout flies.

We love dubbing

At Troutlore we have a love for dubbing. Yes, little bags of fluff and synthetic, that’s the stuff. We just love it. That is why we are always adding to our range of dubbing that we offer to Australian fly tiers. We believe that we have the largest range of dubbing and dubbing brushes available in Australia. There are so many colours and varieties, you should always be able to find the right dub for your bug.

Of course, if you want to create all sorts of natural looking streamer fly patterns, then our ever growing range of natural hairs and furs is the ideal place to start for something different to the synthetic option. Don’t just settle on looking in the Hare & Rabbit category when you’re chasing quality winging and body furs, check out the Specialty Species Category of the Troutlore Flytying Store as well. Plus, we keep a great selection of Calf and Bucktail as well, in a big range of colours to take care of your freshwater and saltwater flytying needs. If you can’t find a product you are specifically looking for, get in touch and we will see if it can be sourced, and kept in stock. Plus, you can keep up to date with new releases through our newsletter and social media outlets.
