Goulburn Steel 6053 Classic Swimming Nymph Hooks

The Goulburn Steel 6053 Classic Swimming Nymph hook is one for those specialty flies. The long shank features a natural upward curve into a straight eye, to imitate the shape of a swimming mayfly nymph.

As part of the Classic Range, the 6053 has a barbed hook point for maximum holding ability. With a 3X long curved shank. this hook allows for the creative fly tyer to go to town.

SIZING
Generally speaking the hook sizes are comparable to “standard” industry sizing. While standard industry sizing is debatable depending on who you talk to, most standard length dry or nymph hooks have comparable shank lengths and gapes.

SHANK LENGTH
The numerical indicator (1X, 2X, 3X, etc.) references a standard hook size 1, 2, or 3 sizes longer or shorter. For example the 8246 Streamer Hook a 2XL hook so, an 8246 #12 has a shank length comparably equivalent to a “standard” #8 hook.

GAPE
Gape size is offered in Standard or Wide Gape options, depending on hook model. If the Gape is not noted in the the specifications, it is a Standard size in relation to the shank. Wide Gape hooks are noted in the specifications, and present a gape that is one hook size larger than the Standard size in relation to the shank.
