As the 2025-2026 trout season is starting to slow down for most states, the onset of Tying Season begins for many Australian fly fishers, and most certainly for you guys, our loyal customers. I’m constantly in the process of updating the list of upcoming events, as you are all settling down to the vise to begin refilling those fly boxes for the next season.
As is the case every year, I will be hitting the road, visiting a number of fly fishing clubs around Victoria and New South Wales presenting on a range of topics fly tying related. During this time of year, when less fishing options are available, we see more club members gather together and tell tales of the season past and muse on what the season future may hold. And I do love to tell a good tale, or two.
At time of writing (now updated...again), I am still finalizing details of some appearances and events through the spring and into next summer too (even though we JUST finished the last one). _______________________
These events are always a highlight of my winter season, even though some fall into Spring and even into summer. We go through a range of topics, always fly tying related, be it how to tie specific patterns, and how to fish said flies being discussed. I’ll always have the vise with me. One cannot travel without ones vise and tools. So we’ll be tying flies for discussion, and often as a group if the club members so wish too.
If you’re a member of any of these clubs, be sure to get down to those nights so we can all catch up. If you’re not currently a member of these clubs, and would like to attend, get in touch with the clubs’ president or membership secretaries and become an active member. You can click the links on each club’s listing above to find their contact details.

There's a good chance you'll find me at other venues again in the following year, just watch this space!
For now, make the most of the last weeks of the trout season in Victoria and New South Wales. I’ll see you all over the winter. Happy tying!
