SAWYER'S KILLER BUG FLY PATTERN TIED BY ROB GEE OF TROUTLORE FLY TYING STORE IN AUSTRALIA, USING UPAVON CHADWIKS 477 SUBSTITUTE YARN

Sawyer's Killer Bug Fly Tying Video Now Available

In this week's fly tying video, we go straight to the pages of flyfishing folklore, with Frank Sawyer's "The Keeper of the Stream", and use his original instructions to tie Sawyer's Killer Bug.

Sawyer's Killer Bug is a famous and highly effective fishing fly pattern, originally developed by Frank Sawyer on the River Avon in England to manage grayling populations, and now widely used for trout and other fish.

It's known for its simple yet effective design, imitating various aquatic insects like scuds and small shrimp found in the aforementioned stream.

While the original pattern used the now-discontinued Chadwick's 477 yarn, modern versions often substitute with similar materials like Upavon Chadwick 477 Substitute, as used in this video.

The video can be found at the following link :

All the materials required for this pattern and so many more can be found here, in the Troutlore Fly Tying Store at : https://www.troutlore.com.au

Materials list is as follows :

Ahrex FW560 Traditional Nymph Hook #12

Upavon Chadwick's 477 Substitute

UNI Soft Wire

And that's it! Super simple list of three items for a very effective little fly pattern.
