Here it is, the Shrimp that everyone wants on their Barbie, Joe's Celluloid Shrimp, served without garlic sauce. We've had a lot of people asking about the tying video for their this fly, and Joe himself kindly approved it, even with my personal changes to the pattern. The full-length tutorial is now live on our YouTube channel if you want to sit through 19 odd minutes of my droll voice. Otherwise, you can find the Step-By-Step in print in Issue 117 of FlyLife Magazine by the very talented @flymaxaustralia. And of course, the two essential materials for this pattern, Joe's Stretch Cord and Joe's Flat Cord, are available from the Troutlore Flytying Store website all day, and every day. So, get Get yours today and start shrimpin'
The video can be found at the following link :
All the materials required to tie the Shuttle Brus Possum Emerger pattern and so many more can be found in the Troutlore Fly Tying Store at : https://www.troutlore.com.au
Materials list is as follows :
Ahrex SA250 Dry Fly Hook Size #2-#6
UTC 140, UNI 6/0 or Veevus 6/0 Thread - White
Joe's Stretch Cord 1.5mm or 2.0mm
FTD Arctic Snow Dubbing - Hot Orange
Whilst the video suggests using the 1.5mm Stretch Cord, that's more so because it was what I had on the bench at the time. The result is a little slender on the #2 hook, and you'll find you get a fuller silhouette if you use the 2.0mm Stretch Cord on this size SA250 hook. In the NS150 Shrimp Hooks, they are a smaller gape option, so the 1.5mm Stretch Cord works better there.
